Nurseries are available during Sunday School, church and most scheduled activities. Two separate nurseries provide individual attention for each child. Trained workers are hand picked to offer a safe, fun atmosphere. We can accommodate ages birth thru four years old. You can better enjoy the service knowing your child is secure and well cared for.

Jail

For over ten years we have ministered to inmates at the Illinois River Correctional Center. Once incarcerated, many inmates feel abandoned by friends, family, and even God. Our goal is to spread the Gospel and let them know that the Lord still loves them. During 2009, 348 souls trusted Christ as their Saviour.

Rescue Mission

On a regular basis, men from our church preach and minister to those staying at the Peoria Rescue Mission. Our workers have a unique insight into the plight of these men. The men at the mission can perceive our care and sincerity; and open their hearts to the message of hope. In 2008, 159 men made professions of their faith in Jesus Christ. Our ladies get involved by baking homemade treats to be distributed after the service.

Music Ministry

The ministry of music is one of the dearest to the heart of God. At Calvary Baptist Church we desire, foremost, to keep our music pleasing to Him. Godly, practiced musicians provide the necessary prelude needed to prime hearts to hear God’s message from God’s man. Heart stirring music is enjoyed at each service.

Calvary Baptist Academy

Calvary Baptist Academy was established in 2001. Our teachers are college graduates with a heart for training leaders of tomorrow. God’s Word and His principles are unashamedly foremost in the curriculum. Academics are college bound with emphasis on advanced Mathematics, English, and Language Arts. Our small student/teacher ratio allows for individual attention. Combined with music classes, plays, programs, PE, Spanish, and a ‘family’ atmosphere, each child can reach his potential. Our school offers classes for grades K4-12.

Bus Ministry

Our blue buses have been rolling for almost 30 years. Each week a fleet of dedicated workers visit, love, care, and transport children, teens, and adults to church. The ride to church includes singing, activities, games, contests, rewards, and a Bible lesson. Our trained CDL drivers, inspected buses, and character filled workers tirelessly reach all areas of Fulton County.

Nursing Home

James 1:27 “pure religion… before God and the Father is this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction…” Our Nursing Home Ministry cares for those who are no longer able to reach out themselves. We bring a song, a smile, and a special lesson just for these precious folks. We currently have five services in the Fulton County area. In 2009, 53 souls were saved through this outreach ministry.

Women’s Missionary Society

Welcome to WMS! Our Women’s Missionary Society is one of the most vital outreaches of Calvary Baptist Church. Its purpose is to exhort missionaries. This is accomplished by loving, caring, and encouraging those special wives who stand by their husbands on the foreign field. WMS also raises money to meet special wants and needs of those serving Christ outside of America. The Women’s Missionary Society is unique in that every lady in the church can be involved!

MONTHLY MEETINGS

WMS meets the first Sunday of every month. By hosting a themed “Tea Party”, many gals look forward to this time of fellowship and service. Our meetings begin at 4:00 and include finger foods, hot & cold drinks, singing, prayer, missionary updates, business meeting, offering, and a devotion.

Each year Preacher picks a theme for the Women’s Missionary Society, In the past we have done: A Meek and Quiet Spirit, The Classic Christian Lady, color me Spiritual, Color Me Beautiful, A Taste of Home, and Bear Necessities.

LOVE IN THE MAIL

Each month cards are sent to each member of a missionaries family wishing them a happy birthday. Anniversary cards are also sent. Missionary wives receive a newsletter telling them about recent church events, other missionary’s needs, and an out line of the devotion that was given.

A “Baby Shower” is sent when a child is born to one of our missionaries. If special hard-to-get items are requested, the WMS will collect and send these items over seas. From time to time a questionnaire is sent out asking what items the missionary family would like to receive as a treat. The entire church gets involved in spoiling our missionaries.

FUND RAISERS

The Calvary Baptist church gladly helps finance over 30 missionaries. The WMS raises money above this budgeted amount for specific causes. Just recently WMS purchased almost 3000 King James Bibles for African children. Besides monthly offerings, the Women’s Missionary Society has three main fund raisers. One is a WMS cookbook. Another is a giant garage sale, and finally a Christmas Tea. Money from the sale of tickers to the Tea and money colleted from an auction during the Tea goes to missionaries. An offering is also taken at our Ladies Conference in May. Thousands of dollars have been raised to further the Gospel.

A PLACE FOR EVERYONE

WMS is a great way to fellowship whether you are new to the church or a charter member. Any age can be involved. Each lady signs the pile of cards which are sent each month. A specially designed prayer list is available to each gal. Every penny collect goes directly to encourage a missionary. Attendance is not required to participate. Every lady, even visitors are invited to attend the WMS Tea Party!

Junior Church

A Junior church program is provided for ages 4 thru the sixth grade on Sunday mornings at 10:30. Children are taught character and morals using exciting, interactive, age appropriate preaching. The service includes skits, games, singing, puppet shows, and crazy times. There is NEVER a dull moment.

Pie and Matthew Ministry

Two exclusive programs at Calvary Baptist are the Pie Ministry and the Matthew Ministry. To thank folks who visit our church, ladies from the Pie Ministry make them homemade baked items. In the Matthew Ministry, people who are interested in our church, new members, or sometimes visitors, are treated to a meal. This allows a time of fellowship and the opportunity to know more about our ministry.

Sunday School

Practical, timely Bible teaching is available during Sunday School. With over 23 classes, we can accommodate every age group. Adults have six different classes in which to choose. Sunday School starts at 9:30 am.

Pathfinders

The Pathfinders department is a special needs ministry of Calvary. Those with developmental handicaps are welcomed and cared for by experienced workers. There is Bible teaching on their level during Sunday School and a special meeting at a group home during the week. Love and acceptance are the foundations of this ministry.

Greeters

First impressions are lasting, and our Greeters do a great job! They are ready to shake a hand, answer questions or help with parking your car. Men with a heart for others, cheerfully welcome all those who attend Calvary Baptist Church.
